A pair making one
Wrapped in our orbit

Through space's
Formless embrace
No destination
Nothing to stop our flight

So we danced
As we advanced
Drifting away from all the others
Out into the empty and dark
Unmoving sea

Was it joy or fear that kept us paired
Ever-turning, unaware
Of the galaxy we crossed
Each looming planet that we passed
Was a blur that wouldn't last
Never found but never lost

There in darkness lay the beast
A gaping void awaiting feast
Its pull was subtle, but drew us in:
Too self-absorbed to see, too powerless to win

So I flew,
Still dancing with you
Down towards the danger
Into the creature's sight

My fate
I realized too late:
Never escaping
Losing a hopeless fight

Sinking away from all the others
